Tenia ya ganas de hablar de este subgenero del cine, ya que aunque todos conozcamos a las típicas películas del oeste, y las llamemos así, hay que diferenciar entre el Western americano y el Spaguetti Western. Ambas tratan del mismo tema, de historias de vaqueros e indios, pero los enfoques son diferentes. El boom del Western es en los años 50, y sobre los años 60, cuando empezaron a bajar la producción de películas, fue cuando en Europa se empezaron a realizar films de este genero, la mayoria se realizaban en Italia o España, de ahí le viene el nombre peyorativo de spaguetti si la película era italiana y chorizo western si era española. Entre 1960 y 1975 se realizaron más de 600 películas lo cual demostraba el tirón que tenía este tipo de genero en el viejo continente.
La diferencia entre el western americano y el spaguetti, es que mientras que en el americano se mostraba la cara amable del oeste y de aquella epoca, en la variante nos podiamos encontrar un desierto mas real, más cruel, más duro, buscando enseñar la parte más amarga. Los personajes suelen ser mas secos, rudos, sin humanidad, con el fin de mostrar la cruda realidad que se vivió en aquella epoca. Como referente podemos encontrar a Sergio Leone, que entre otras películas dirigió “El bueno, el malo y el feo” junto con Clint Eastwood, Lee Van Cleef y Eli Walach. Junto a él, cabe destacar al compositor Ennio Morricone, que puso banda sonora a este film y sin duda se consagró como uno de los grandes en su profesión. Siempre se ha considerado este subgenero como de poca calidad, o de serie B, pero lo cierto es que entre tanta película se puede encontrar alguna que otra joya. Tambien se ha de decir que los americanos criticaban mucho este cine y lo llamaban Spaguetti o Chorizo Western de modo despectivo, lo daban por malo, pero en esto yo segun mi sincera opinión creo que en muchos casos era por puro orgullo, no les gustaba que nadie reescribiera como fue su pasado y que lo contaran otros que no fueran ellos. Es cierto que con esas películas se podrían hacer miles de entradas de escenas para no dormir, pero siempre quedan buenas películas y joyas que pasarán a la historia.
