Impresionante capítulo de los que dan lugar a reflexión y encima con sorpresa final.
Ya estamos acostumbrados a que cada temporada de ésta serie nos muestre reflexión importante sobre el personaje. En la primera temporada fue el asesino del hielo, quien tenía un modus operandi muy similar al de Dexter, pero que no seguía el código de eliminar a criminales únicamente. En la segunda tuvimos el lado oscuro de Lyla, una chica aparentemente normal que comprendía el lado oscuro de nuestro protagonista, pero que no daba ningún valor a los demás cuando se trataba de conseguir sus propios objetivos. La tercera nos trajo a Miguel Prado, quien quiso ser como Dexter pero vulneraba el código para satisfacer sus ansias personales. Y finalmente tenemos a Trinity, un asesino que nos muestra que matar gente y tener una feliz familia es posible, aunque a Dex ésto le resulte extremadamente complicado y tenga momentos en los que quiera arrojar la toalla.
Sin embargo la perfección no existe, y las máscaras acaban cayendo y mostrando que, donde desde el exterior vemos una família bien avenida y tremendamente feliz, en el interior nos encontramos con cuatro personas completamente aterrorizadas y subyugadas por Trinity.
Dexter decide ayudar a la família pero el peligro viene cuando un ataque de ira de Trinity que está a punto de estrangular a su hijo, desemboca en la aparición del oscuro pasajero a la luz del día y a la vista de todos los presentes. Y es aquí donde radica la diferencia entre estos dos asesinos:
Uno mantiene la familia exclusivamente como escudo y la mantiene aterrorizada, mientras el otro siente verdadero afecto por la suya y prefiere complicar su seguridad personal al bienestar de ellos.
El detalle que mejor lo demuestra es el siguiente:
Cuando están en la comida de acción de gracias y deben decir por qué están agradecidos, Trinity desata su ira porque nadie de los presentes se siente agradecido por él. En cambio, cuando llega el momento de hacerlo en casa de Dexter, (y aunque el quiere evitarlo ya que le trae un mal recuerdo reciente), Cody no duda en decir que está agradecido de por él.
Como partes paralelas de la trama solo destacar dos.
Debra, que ya ha dado sobradas muestras de ser una genial detective, se acaba dando cuenta de que Cristine, la novia de Quinn es posiblemente la culpable de la muerte de Lundy, al dar ella misma un dato que nadie que no hubiese estado allí podría saber.
Por otro lado tenemos el que ya era previsible intento de escarceo entre el vecino de Rita y Dex y la propia Rita y que falta saber si desmbocará en algo mayor o habrá quedado en un error puntual.
Pero la sorpresa la tenemos en el plano final… llaman a la puerta y Cristine abre creyendo que se encontrará con Quinn, de quien se acaba de despedir, sin embargo es Trinity quien está al otro lado. Ella le mira y menciona un… “Hola papá”
Así parece culminarse el entrelazado de dos personajes que se presentaron como posibles líneas paralelas para la trama y que cuando ésta fue avanzando vimos que tenían algún tipo de relación.
