Hablar de Dragon Ball Kai, es hablar del presente de un gran clásico al que se le ha querido hacer un lavado de cara para atrapar a las nuevas generaciones y despertar la nostalgia de los que crecimos con ella. No en vano hablamos de Dragon Ball, la cual celebró su vigésimo aniversario hace muy poco.
Ahora bien, ¿qué es Dragon Ball Kai y qué aporta?
La serie se nos presenta como un resumen Dragon Ball Z a la que le han quitado los capítulos de relleno, redibujado ciertos planos así como el opening y el ending y a la que se ha añadido una nueva banda sonora compuesta por Kenji Yamamoto, (autor de las bandas sonoras de algunos videojuegos de Dragon Ball).
La serie comienza con el nacimiento en el planeta Bejita de Kakarotto, (Son Goku), y su envío al planeta tierra seguido de un breve resumen de las aventuras de éste en la tierra durante su infancia desde su golpe en la cabeza y su encuentro con Bulma, hasta la derrota de Piccolo Jr.
Y aquí comienza realmente la serie. Nos encontramos con un Son Goku ya adulto casado y con un hijo que decide ir a visitar a sus antiguos amigos.
Durante dicha visita aparece Raditz un guerrero venido del espacio que viene a buscar a su hermano, que no es otro que el propio Goku, el cual fue enviado a la tierra para destruirla…
La trama es exactamente la misma que la original como ya comenté al inicio. Por otro lado, las escenas redibujadas que tanto se publicitaron no pasan, en realidad, de ciertos planos muy cortos y que no aportan nada en concreto. De hecho muchos pasan inadvertidos.
Respecto a la música nos encontramos con una BSO que al principio parece que se le queda pequeña a la serie al pecar de poco épica en los momentos importantes, pero que al darle una segunda oportunidad, nos damos cuenta de que el error no está en la composición sinó en la edición. Es decir: la música es buena, pero en ciertos momento no la han colocado adecuadamente.
Y llegamos a la mención especial que merecen el opening y el ending que sí están completamente actualizados en cuanto a estilo de dibujo se refiere, (recordando al estilo de las intros de los videojuegos Dragon Ball Budokai 2 y 3 de PS 2), y que hacen que uno se plantée por qué no han redibujado así la serie para modernizarla verdaderamente. Aunque se echa en falta la voz de Hironobu Kageyama (el cantante original).
La serie, que de momento solo está en japonés, cuenta con el doblaje original a excepción del personaje de Yamcha, cuyo actor de doblaje original falleció.
Como nota negativa diré que presenta ciertas pequeñas censuras con respecto al original, aunque se comenta que su salida en DVD no tendrá dichas censuras.
En definitiva, una serie muy recomendable por su ágil transición narrativa gracias al recorte de las etapas de relleno, a pesar de no superar la versión original
