La vida privada de Pippa Lee

Hace unos días fui a ver este drama flojillo estrenado originalmente en 2009 pero que aquí no ha llegado hasta junio de este año. La directora es Rebecca Miller, que es a la vez la autora del libro en que está basada la película y quien escribió la adaptación para el cine.
La historia no es especialmente original, no consigue conmovernos en especial y la dirección hace que se nos haga especialmente rápida de ver. Explica la vida de una chica, Pippa, desde su infancia hasta la actualidad y cómo se desarrolla la relación con su marido, varias décadas mayor que ella. Blake Lively (conocida por su papel en Gossip Girl) representa a la protagonista en su adolescencia y Robin Wright (Forrest Gump) interpreta el personaje cuando es mayor y es aquí donde tenemos uno de los aspectos más extraños de la película: la diferencia entre la edad que aparentan una y otra es excesiva así que nunca podemos llegar a hacernos una idea más o menos cuándo nació el personaje.
La ambientación no está demasiado bien lograda: parece que Pippa viva su infancia entre los 50 y los 60 pero cuando tiene veinte su estética y la de sus amigos nos hace pensar que estamos en los 80 al menos; hay incluso una chica que viste como una gótica. No lo está tampoco la caracterización del marido, interpretado por Alan Larkin, que cuando se supone son los primeros años de la década de 1980 ya parece un hombre que supera los sesenta y más de veinte años más tarde tiene un aspecto relativamente parecido y no se le ve afectado apenas por la vejez.
De todas formas, La vida privada de Pippa Lee no llega a hacerse aburrida ni se podría decir que es “mala,” propiamente, aunque lo que desencadena el final puede parecer un poco raro a los espectadores. Cualquiera que desee ver a Winona Ryder, Keanu Reeves o a la bellísima Monica Bellucci no hará mal si da una oportunidad al filme porque los tres tienen un papel. Supongo que puedo recomendarla.
