Con una dilatada carrera como realizador de cortometrajes, Nacho Vigalondo estrenó su primer largometraje en 2007 titulado Los cronocrímenes.
Si algo demuestra con ésta película, es que además de Amenábar hay otros directores capaces de contar historias interesantes y de otros géneros a parte de los dramas locales a los que muchas veces asociamos el cine español.
Los cronocrímenes nos cuenta la historia de Héctor, un hombre que aún está terminando de instalarse en su nueva casa en la montaña con su mujer, cuando un buen día mientras mira con sus prismáticos el horizonte ve a una joven en medio del bosque.
Tras un momento de descuido, la chica desaparece y Héctor decide ir a ver qué le ha sucedido. Cuando la encuentra, la muchacha yace inmóvil desnuda en mitad del bosque. Al acercarse para comprobar el estado de la chica, el protagonista es atacado por un hombre que lleva la cabeza tapada con unas vendas rosáceas.
En su huida, Héctor acaba en un centro de experimentación científica que hay en las cercanías, y allí será ayudado por un chico que trabaja en el lugar.
Su plan consiste en esconderse en una máquina y cerrarla hasta que pase el peligro, pero en cuanto el protagonista se introduce en ella, el chico la activa.
Cuando Héctor sale de la máquina, descubre que ha viajado atrás en el tiempo hasta el comienzo de ese mismo día. Para volver a su vida normal, el protagonista deberá ayudar a su alter ego para que realice las acciones que le llevaron a acabar viajando en el tiempo.
No quiero destripar mucho más, porque realmente la película merece ser disfrutada.
Vigalondo consigue en su primer largometraje una mezcla sublime de intriga con una dosis de ciencia ficción. Con un gran ritmo, y lo que a un servidor le ha parecido más interesante, mostrando una evolución en el personaje principal tan elaborada como sutil.
Una gran película que demuestra al menos dos cosas: Que en España se puede hacer un tipo de cine distinto al que estamos acostumbrados, y que no es necesario un grandísimo presupuesto para ello.
Como último apunte, decir que hay rumores de un posible remake en 2011 “The Timecrimes”. Parece ser que Tom Cruise se ha interesado en el proyecto y quiere realizar la versión americana como ya hiciese con la película de Alejandro Amenábar “Abre los ojos” en su remake americano titulada “Vanilla Sky”
