Poco podemos decir que no se haya dicho ya de esta conocida obra del genial Akira Kurosawa… Sin embargo un clásico como éste no podía faltar en la web.
Estrenada en 1950, bajo la dirección y guión del ya mencionado Kurosawa. con música de la mano de Fumio Hayasaka y un reparto encabezado por el genial Toshiro Mifune.
La película comienza cuando un hombre acude a la puerta de Rashomon a resguardarse de la torrencial lluvia que está cayendo. Allí se encuentra con un monje y otro hombre que parecen estar increíblemente afligidos.
Al preguntarles el motivo de su aflicción, éstos le explican que se debe al asesinato de un hombre después de ser asaltado por un bandido y a lo turbio de cómo ha sucedido todo, pues tras haber escuchado las versiones que dieron el bandido, la mujer del asesinado, y el propio asesinado a través de una vidente a las autoridades, todo parece haberse enmarañado más que solucionarse.
Y así precisamente está narrada la película, mostrandonos las versiones de cada uno de los implicados y posteriormente una última visión, la del testigo que lo vio todo.
Pero si otra cosa hace grande a esta película además de su narrativa, es la crítica hacia el comportamiento humano que se puede desprender de las actitudes de los personajes.
Una película realmente recomendable, por la que merece la pena saltarse el típico prejuicio de: “Es antigua y en blanco y negro”, que a mucha gente parece resultarle insalvable.
