Akira Kurosawa presentó en 1957 Trono de sangre, una historia que hablaba de la ambición de las personas utilizando a los samurais como telón de fondo.
Protagonizada, como ya es habitual en la filmografía de Kurosawa, por Toshiro Mifune, Trono de sangre nos explica la historia de Washizu. El comandante del fuerte 1 que va de regreso al castillo de su señor acompañado por su amigo y compañero de armas Miki. Ambos regresan de sendas batallas en las que han abortado un intento de traición.
Pero para llegar al castillo deben cruzar el bosque de las telarañas, un bosque laberíntico y maldito que se haya cerca del castillo. Allí se encuentran con un espíritu que les hace una predicción: “Washizu se convertirá ese mismo día en el señor de la mansión del norte, y con el tiempo será el señor del castillo de las telarañas, mientras que Miki pasará a ser ese día el comandante del fuerte 1 y su hijo será quien un día releve a Washizu en la posesión del castillo”
Tras el encuentro, ambos bromean con lo absurdo de la predicción, ya que el castillo de las telarañas es precisamente al lugar donde se dirigen, el castillo inexpugnable de su señor, y ninguno de ellos le traicionaría jamás.
Sin embargo, al llegar al castillo, su señor les premia con sendos ascensos, pasando Washizu a ser el amo de la mansión del norte, y Miki el comandante del fuerte 1.
Angustiado por lo que esta coincidencia pueda significar, Washizu decide contárselo todo a su esposa, pero ésta, ansiosa de poder comienza a manipular a su marido para que obtenga el control del castillo de las telarañas traicionando a su señor.
No explicaré el desenlace de la historia, porque realmente es una película que recomiendo principalmente por la sencillez de su argumento, que no impide que haga un análisis profundo de la naturaleza humana.
El único pero, es el de siempre en la filmografía de Kurosawa. La, en ocasiones excesiva duración de algunos momentos, lo que le da un desarrollo algo lento.
Cabe mencionar que en ocasiones, la actuación del personaje interpretado por Mifune unida a la música, le da al film un estilo de teatro Kabuki.
